Lake Wise Funding Secured for 2026

Will Marlier, Lake Watershed Program Specialist is pleased to share that funding has been secured to continue the Lake Wise program on Caspian Lake for the 2026 season. A $3,256 grant from the Lake Champlain Basin Program, along with a generous $1,000 contribution from the Greensboro Association, will support this effort.

Lake Wise, an initiative of the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation, provides free, voluntary property assessments for lakeshore landowners, offering guidance on septic systems, stormwater management, and shoreline health. Properties that meet established standards may receive a Lake Wise Award.

With this funding, the Orleans County NRCD will conduct eight individual assessments and host one public education workshop in 2026. Will looks forward to continuing this important work with local lake champion Stew Arnold.
