2026 Tour de Greensboro Cancelled

2026 Tour de Greensboro – Event Cancellation

We regret to announce that the 2026 Tour de Greensboro has been cancelled due to extremely cold weather conditions forecast for this weekend.

We explored every possible option to adjust the event for safer and more reasonable conditions, including moving the tour to Friday. Unfortunately, we were unable to secure enough volunteers for that day. Our next option was to consider Sunday, but after closely reviewing the updated weather forecast, temperatures during event hours are still expected to be well below zero.

Above all else, our priority is to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants and volunteers. Given the conditions, that would not be possible, and there are no viable options to reschedule the event. This decision is a tremendous disappointment to everyone involved.

This year’s Tour de Greensboro represents well over 100 hours of volunteer time, along with significant planning and coordination. We extend our sincere thanks to Jim Fredericks, Volunteer Director, Chris Steel, Volunteer Coordinator, and Karl Stein, EMT/Rescue Coordinator, for their dedication and extensive preliminary work, as well as to all the volunteers who contributed their time and energy.

As noted in the event registration materials, refunds are not available, as considerable expenses have already been incurred in preparation for the event. Participants may consider their $50 registration fee as a donation to the Greensboro Association, which we greatly appreciate.

Thank you for your understanding, your support, and your continued commitment to the Greensboro community.

Thank You to Our 2026 Tour de Greensboro Sponsors

Although the Tour de Greensboro will not be held this year, the Greensboro Association gratefully recognizes and thanks the sponsors who were scheduled to support this event and to champion our community.

Lumi Experiences
If you are ever thinking about taking a ski vacation, Lumi is the way to go. JoAnn and I took a self guided Lumi vacation to Austria and Italy a couple of years ago and we will definitely do it again along with other TdG participants who have booked with Lumi Experiences.

Toko US
For more than 35 years, Toko US has been a trusted leader in ski waxing and care. We are thankful for Toko’s past generosity and continued support of the Tour de Greensboro community.

Carol’s Kitchen & Willey’s Store
These local favorites have long contributed to the warmth and hospitality of the Tour de Greensboro, generously providing hot cider and donuts for participants in years past.

Highland Lodge
The Greensboro Association extends sincere thanks to the Highland Lodge for its longstanding cooperation and partnership, which has been essential to the success of the Tour de Greensboro over the years.

The Tour de Greensboro is a fundraiser for the Greensboro Association, supporting the Greensboro community, its lakes, and the surrounding environment through initiatives, events, and advocacy.

We are deeply grateful for our sponsors’ continued commitment to Greensboro, Vermont, and look forward to future opportunities to gather and celebrate together.
