Tour de Greensboro: An Unforgettable Winter Experience
The 2025 Tour de Greensboro once again lived up to its reputation as “Nordic skiing at its best.” More than 100 cross-country skiers from six states and Canada took on the challenge of this spectacular winter event, traversing a 25 km course that winds through Greensboro’s public trail system and rarely accessible private trails.
Starting and finishing at the Highland Lodge in Greensboro, Vermont, the full course included over 2,300 feet of elevation gain, offering a true test of endurance and Vermont winter beauty. For those seeking a shorter adventure, an 18 km route provided an equally scenic but less demanding option.
What makes the Tour truly special—beyond the stunning terrain—is its spirit and community. The non-competitive format welcomes skiers of all levels to enjoy the day at their own pace. Participants ranged widely in age and experience, with 82% over forty and nearly two-thirds women, reflecting the welcoming and inclusive nature of the event.
Flawless grooming on the public Greensboro trails was provided by the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, while Jim Fredericks, the event’s volunteer director, expertly prepared the private sections. More than twenty-five local volunteers and First Responders ensured a safe, seamless experience for all.
The Tour de Greensboro is also a community fundraiser, supporting the ongoing work of the Greensboro Association. Thanks to our generous sponsors—Toko US, Lumi Experiences, Willey’s Store, Connie’s Kitchen, Jasper Hill Farm, and the Highland Lodge—and to every skier and volunteer who made this year’s event such a success.
