Highland Lodge XC trails will remain open PDF Print E-mail

Thanks to collaborative efforts between an enthusiastic group of Greensboro residents and the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, the x-c ski and snowshoe trails of the Highland Lodge will remain open to skiers and snowshoers despite the closing of the Lodge. For further information, please see http://www.craftsbury.com/skiing/nordic_center/news/HL1112groom_111122.htm

Funding and volunteers will be required to man the trails, but the Craftsbury Outdoor Center owners are optimistic and all property owners have given their permission for the trails to continue to be maintained through their properties.    More information will be available through the Craftsbury Outdoor Center.

The Craftsbury Outdoor Center is a full service nordic ski center supporting novice through expert skiers with lessons, expert advice, and rentals.

Highland Lodge announces it will close PDF Print E-mail

It was announced today that the Highland Lodge is closing its doors effectively immediately.   The immediate cause according to the press release is "a bad economy combined with an innkeeping format which is no longer sustainable in today’s tourism climate."   The decision, which has been under consideration for some time, was made with great sadness by the Smith Family, who have run the inn for 57 years with 4 generations of family.

The hope is to find a buyer or buyers for the property who will preserve the character of the land and buildings and who will be both environmentally conscious and a good fit with the town of Greensboro. The Greensboro and Vermont Land Trusts and the Preservation Trust of Vermont are all being asked for their perspectives.

Further information regarding the future of the site will be announced at www.highlandlodge.com.

Annual Meeting - Date Change for 2012 PDF Print E-mail

Standby for more updates - we are revisiting the date for the 2012 annual meeting

The 2012 Annual Meeting of the Greensboro Association will be rescheduled a bit earlier to accomodate more people attending. Please stand by as we look for a date that works within the Greensboro calendar.

On August 18, 2011 the Board of the Greensboro Association voted to change the bylaws governing the Annual Meeting.   The original date of the third Monday in August is increasingly too late for younger families who must return for the beginning of school in mid August.

The venue for the meeting in 2012 will remain United Church of Christ, Fellowship Hall.
