DESCRIPTION
“Life in Occupied Palestine” is a documentary made and narrated by Anna Balzer, a Jewish-American woman who is a Fulbright scholar, and the granddaughter of holocaust refugees. The film shows a side of middle-eastern conflict that is rarely publicized in the American media, by depicting what actual life on the ground is like for many Palestinians, including the many indignities and injustices that they go through on a regular basis. There are, of course, many sufferings on both sides of the Palestine-Israel conflict. But the Palestinian sufferings, and the Palestinian side of that tragic conflict, are almost entirely unreported in the American mainstream press. Because of that underreporting, films such as this are essential to providing greater balance in our understanding of Middle Eastern events. Admission is free.
All are welcome for either the film, the pot-luck or both. Following the movie there will be a discussion of what we have seen. Further information about this film and its maker can be found at www.AnnaInTheMiddleEast.com.
