The Greensboro Land Trust has 14 conservation easements, totaling 948 acres. A new easement on 39 acres along Craftsbury Road was added during the past year. Each September the GLT fields teams that monitor the easements to ensure compliance with their terms and conditions. Thus far 15.5% of Greensboro’s total area has been conserved either by the GLT, the Vermont Land Trust, or The Nature Conservancy. The GLT sponsors an annual hike on conserved property, open to the public. This July ten Greensboroites joined Mark and Mary McGrath on some of the trails on their 320 conserved acres. On August 9 the GLT teamed with Wonder and Wisdom to sponsor a hike cum treasure hunt for 16 children on the McGraths’ land.
The GLT is interested in talking with landowners who would like to see their land conserved for posterity. Call or email Clive Gray (533-7723, clivegrayvt@gmail), or Stephanie Herrick (533-7715) to discuss various options.
